eClass is the University of Alberta's centrally supported learning management system – a tool that gives educators the best tools to manage and promote learning.
It is powered by Moodle, an open source product, meaning that the source code is openly available and that there is an entire community of people contributing to the project to improve it – whether it be by fixing bugs or creating new modules. If you want to make a suggestion for improving eClass, let us know - more information on our process for bringing in changes to eClass is available here.
If you're new to eClass, Using Moodle is full of tutorials, tip sheets and videos created by our very own instructional designers. It contains resources for new students as well as for instructors to help develop course materials that work best on Moodle.
If you are new to Moodle, you may want to check out a Sample Course to see what is available in Moodle.
We would also highly encourage you to check back often and take advantage of the many training and feedback sessions run by the Centre of Teaching and Learning. Can't attend CTL's hands on eClass (Moodle) training sessions? Watch a pre-recorded session.
